She was a performer, artist performer, creator and broke boundaries in the music world. Her ethnicity was Mexican American, however she was still traditional. She brought Tejano into the mainstream of music. In the same way that many people mourn a star who passed away too young, her death was premature and destroyed the progress of her career. Fans have been inspired over through the years to dig their heels even harder working to ensure that her achievements won't be lost in the dust. Selena is the Tejano singer who fatally shot dead during a shooting incident, caused a Latino response that could be thought of as similar to the reactions to Elvis Presley's and John Lennon's deaths. Selena was an extremely popular Latino singer across North America. Her music transcended the boundaries of culture and inspired both young people and older adults. Selena was a hot and flamboyant stage performer that was frequently referred to by her as the Latina Madonna. In her off-stage life, Selena was also a strong role model as she actively participated in antidrug and AIDS campaigns.
